WELCOME TO APPLICATIONS AND GIFTS
Starburst Foundation is a registered charity based in, and around, the area of Farnborough, Hampshire. Our mission is to allow all to ‘Dream, Inspire and Achieve’ by making a positive change to the community and offering opportunities to be the best you can be. Starburst foundation supports the local community in a variety of ways, raising money, awareness, teaching, community support, performing, developing life skills, bolstering children’s confidence, and helping disadvantaged children. All of the activities assist with, and contribute towards, the successful running of the foundation.
We are proud to have our roots in musical theatre, originally beginning (in 1990) as a small local amateur dramatics theatre company which raised money to fund items of equipment for children with special needs and life limiting illnesses. Over the years Starburst Foundation has grown and now incorporates bespoke remit of activities, all intrinsically linked, to ensure the fiscal stability of the organisation. This enables the foundation to continue supporting children with disabilities, special needs, and ill-health.
The charities objects are to promote education, appreciation and enjoyment of music and drama by the presentation of concerts, shows and other musicals which it does through our multi-award-winning amateur theatre company for performers aged 9 and above. We strive to make theatre accessible giving equal opportunity to shine which in turn empowers children through our donations. Our productions are run almost entirely by volunteers from our cast, stage management, technicians, front of house and stage crew. We also teach children through our performing arts academy across disciplines of musical theatre (singing, acting, dancing). The purpose of the academy is to empower, encourage and provide enriching experiences for children through performance, to embrace all abilities and develop professionalism in theatre performance. We offer inclusivity to all and promote values and transferable skills allowing capacity to influence future goals. Starburst Theatre Academy is run by highly experienced teachers in their fields who are committed to supporting our students to achieve their full potential. The foundation also runs classes for adults in a variety of disciplines. We offer sponsored places to disadvantaged children from difficult backgrounds, who would not normally engage in this activity. The purpose is to develop and open opportunities and promote lifelong skills to give the best chance posable to influence social mobility
The foundation is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, with a passion and drive to assist local children with special needs to reach their fullest potential in their day to day lives. The foundation looks to raised funds in a variety of ways, annual black-tie balls, events through the year like quiz nights and raffles and receipt of other generous donations from the local community. This enables us to fund life enhancing items to support local children with special needs and their families, and help improve quality of life, build self-esteem, improve confidence, or assist with independence and have a positive impact on family life
